1. “I was nervous or overwhelmed.”
You’re not alone. Most people don’t plan on needing a criminal defense attorney, and it can feel overwhelming to talk about it—especially with someone you’ve never met. That’s exactly why our consultations are designed to be low-pressure, private, and focused on helping you understand your options.
We know how hard it can be to talk about something this personal—especially with someone you haven’t met yet. If it helps, you can read more about our firm or see more information about Kathryn and Jennifer before rescheduling.
2. “I missed the call / screened the number.”
We get it—unknown numbers can be tricky. If you missed our call, you can always call us back. Because we set aside time specifically for your case, we’re not able to keep the appointment open indefinitely—so we need to connect when your consultation is scheduled. We hold appointments for a few minutes, but if we miss you, we’re happy to reschedule.
We do these calls ourselves, not through call centers or outsourced contractors, so you’ll be speaking directly with an attorney at the firm you will be hiring.
3. “I’m not ready to make a decision yet.”
You don’t have to commit right away. That’s what the consultation is for—to help you understand your situation before deciding. But waiting too long could make it harder to protect your rights, so the sooner we talk, the more options we can explore together.
4. “I’m talking to other attorneys.”
That’s smart—and we encourage it. Choosing the right defense attorney is a big decision, and it’s worth taking the time to compare. But not every lawyer will offer the same level of clarity, strategy, or fee transparency.
You deserve a legal team you trust—people who listen, explain things clearly, and make you feel confident about your next steps. That’s why we offer free consultations: so you can get a sense of how we approach cases, how we communicate, and whether we’re the right fit to guide you through your situation.
5. “I’m worried about cost.”
That’s a common concern—and one of the main reasons we offer free consultations. The consult isn’t just a quick chat—it’s a real conversation about whether we’re the right fit to work together. If you’re not in a position to hire private counsel, we encourage you to apply for the public defender as soon as possible.
But if you are exploring private representation, the truth is: you won’t know what your case might cost until we’ve reviewed it together. That’s because every case is different, and we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all pricing.
We offer flat fees for most cases, so you know exactly what you’re paying up front—no hourly billing, no surprise invoices. We also offer payment plans in many situations, and we don’t always require 100% up front. Everything is explained in plain English so you can make an informed decision.
6. “I’m not sure I even need a lawyer.”
You might not—and we’ll tell you that if it’s true. But if charges are filed (or even pending), not having legal advice can backfire quickly. We’ll help you understand whether you truly need representation and what the risks are either way.
7. “I didn’t realize the consultation was a real talk with a lawyer.”
It is. This isn’t just a sales pitch—it’s a 30-minute conversation with an attorney who’s handled cases like yours across Denver, Castle Rock, Littleton, and surrounding areas. Even though we don’t offer legal advice during free consults, you’ll still leave with a clearer picture of what you’re facing and how we’d handle your case.
